Iranians focus on inflation woes

All Iranian politicians have pledged to improve the economic situation during their campaign ahead of Friday’s parliamentary poll as ordinary people struggle to pay for clothes and food in preparation for the New Year festivities.

Although Mr Ahmadi-Nejad’s main promise to his electorate was to improve living conditions for the masses, inflation has affected the lives of the poor the most. Their votes on Friday will partly show to what extent they blame the president.
