Democrats likely to take cue from Bush on budget

Democrats were scathing this week as they grilled senior administration officials over President George W. Bush’s proposal to balance the budget four years after he leaves office.

Party leaders said the president’s budget was filled with “debt and deception” and “disconnected from reality”. But Democrats will almost undoubtedly mimic these alleged sleights of hand to conceal cracks in the US fiscal outlook when they present their own budget proposals next month.
