US casinos dealt blow by last-minute bill change

US casino operators were dealt a blow yesterday when a last-minute change to the UK gambling bill curbed the number of Las Vegas-style casinos they will be allowed to build from eight to one.

The UK government had estimated between 20 and 40 new regional casinos would be developed following its deregulation of the country's gaming industry.
