BSkyB to offer standalone broadband option

British Sky Broadcasting is considering intensifying its assault on the broadband and telephony market by offering internet access without insisting that it be bundled in with a satellite television subscription.

More than a year after its entry into the consumer broadband market, BSkyB, under James Murdoch, chief executive, has been testing a standalone service that could allow it to go after customers who are not interested in a pay-TV subscription.
