Gore urges US Senate to pass climate bill

A US Senate vote is ”the crucial step” in fighting climate change, Al Gore, former US vice-president, told the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York on Wednesday.

Mr Gore warned that the Senate must pass climate legislation before the Copenhagen summit in December. “The United States must play a crucial role [in Copenhagen] and in order to do so the president has to be able to go there with a credible bargaining position,” he said.
