Alternative markets are in the pink

For Germans tired of the standard, omnipresent Christmas market of mulled wine, wooden toys and tinny festive music, Berlin this year offers a twist: niche Christmas markets.

Since early December Berlin has boasted the world's first gay Christmas market, complete with homosexual Santas and lesbian stand-up comedians, and Europe's first joint Christian-Jewish festive market, based in the city's popular Jewish museum.
