Saudi king and president of Syria aim to heal wounds

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah arrived in Damascus yes-terday for highly symbolic talks with Bashar Assad, Syrian president, intended to heal a rift between the two Arab countries.

After the first round of talks the two leaders said they had resolved to seek "ways to strengthen co-operation in all areas", and that an "upgrade of relations will be reflected positively on the various issues of concern to all Arabs".
