Mortgage industry’s champagne goes flat

Earlier this month Kensington Group, which offers home loans to customers with patchy credit histories, held its annual party for the mortgage industry at the glitzy CC Club near London’s Piccadilly circus.

A jazz band played as guests sipped champagne and nibbled canapes. The prevailing mood, however, was sombre as talk turned to a wave of job losses starting to sweep across the industry.
