First Rand picks SA’s first black bank chief

Sizwe Nxasana is to become the first black chief executive of a South African bank after First Rand on Tuesday announced he was to take the helm of the country’s second biggest financial services group.

The elevation of Mr Nxasana – who runs the group’s flagship banking operations – marks a milestone in the country’s efforts to unpick the distortions of white rule, which ended in 1994.
