Coalition fights plan to free EU flight booking

A coalition of the United Nations, multinational corporations and private equity companies is fighting a plan to liberalise computer flight booking systems in Europe.

More than 160 groups including Philips, the electronics company, and Pfizer, the pharmaceutical group, will today present a petition to the European Commission saying plans to scrap controls would inflate their travel costs by allowing a single company to dominate the EU market.
