Sir, In response to Derek Roper’s valid point (Letters, October 29): while my meaning was (oh well) hopefully clear, let me restate it thus: the question of efficacy, and affordability, of a “good private education” is indeed begged, in the sense of false assumption, in the original comment (Letters, October 23).
