Car sales dented by credit squeeze

New car registrations dropped last month at the fastest rate in 10 months in a further signal that the global credit squeeze is denting UK consumer confidence.

January registrations fell by 2.1 per cent to 162,097 vehicles, according to Wednesday’s data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
