NHS prescribes more new drugs than forecast

The National Health Service is prescribing many new medicines in greater volumes than officials had predicted, according to an ana­lysis published on Wednesday.

A study from the NHS Information Centre, which compiles health statistics, showed that drugs for seven of 12 diseases recently judged clinically and cost effective were being used at higher levels than expected.
