Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, America's highest-grossing law firm, has become the first US firm to generate revenues of more than $1.5bn.

The firm's continued expansion helped push its fee income up 10 per cent to $1.58bn in 2005, generating profits per equity partner of $1.85m.
