Regulator turns up brightness in ITV review

Shares in ITV rose by as much as 8.9 per cent on Thursday after the industry regulator dealt a good hand to the UK’s main commercial broadcaster in its review of public service broadcasting, tempting traders to believe in a possible bid from RTL.

The Bertelsmann-owned broadcaster already owns the Five channel in the UK, but has been linked to its larger rival.
