SSE chief vows to try to hold prices

Scottish and Southern Energy will try to hold its retail prices unchanged for as long as possible, its chief executive said, adding that the medium-term trend was for bills to rise.

Consumer groups have urged suppliers to cut household bills following the fall in wholesale gas and electricity prices this year, and the pressure is increasing as suppliers report rising profits.
