Republicans move to reshape leadership

Even as they shift through final election tallies and reckon with their losses in Tuesday’s midterm election, Republicans on Capitol Hill are moving quickly to reshape their leadership.

Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the House, made the first move, announcing he would not seek to become his party’s leader in the House next year when he hands the gavel to Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader, in January.
