Rightwing party to enter Finland coalition

Politics in Finland are set to turn right after a surprisingly strong performance by the conservative National Coalition party in Sunday’s closely fought election.

The National Coalition edged out the Social Democratic party to become the main opposition party, clearing the way for it to replace the SDP in coalition with the Centre party of Matti Vanhanen, prime minister, which won the weekend poll.
