Linden Lab, creator of the Second Life virtual world, is moving closer towards a listing and life as a public company with the replacement of its founder with a new chief executive.

Philip Rosedale, who founded the company in 1999, said on Friday he would focus on product strategy and vision, becoming chairman of Linden Lab once the search for his replacement was completed.
