Business disillusioned in Brown’s first year

Business is disappointed and disillusioned with Gordon Brown’s first year in power, but remains to be convinced that David Cameron would be an improvement, the heads of leading industry bodies have told the Financial Times.

Employers will not be celebrating Friday’s anniversary of Mr Brown’s move to Number 10. Anger at the prime minister’s tax increases remains deep-seated, particularly among smaller employers. A survey this week of more than 9,000 small-business owners by the Federation of Small Businesses found that 96 per cent were dissatisfied with the government.
