Rice dismisses security fears over Dubai deal

Condoleezza Rice, US Secretary of State, on Thursday dismissed security concerns over Dubai Ports World’s $6.8bn acquisition of port operator P&O, saying the United Arab Emirates was a key ally of the US

Ms Rice, who on Thursday was heading to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, told reporters the US had spent three months vetting the deal, rejecting concerns by several Congress members that it could be a threat to national security.
