Overview: Rally on renewed global optimism

Evidence of improving confidence among US consumers helped rekindle optimism about the global economic outlook on Tuesday, providing a much-needed boost to equities and other risky assets and offsetting geopolitical worries sparked by North Korea’s nuclear tests.

While the dollar stabilised, US bond yields rose sharply, extending their recent poor performance.
