Executives from Boeing and Northrop Grumman will meet US government officials on Saturday for a second time to discuss details for the revised competition for a $35bn contract to provide air-to-air refuelling tankers to the US Air Force.

The Department of Defense had been widely expected to issue its final guidelines for the competition on Friday after meeting representatives from the two companies this week.
