Atticus closes flagship fund

Atticus Capital, one of the most respected and feared activist hedge funds, is closing its flagship $3.5bn fund as its founder Timothy Barakett steps down as manager of the fund.

“I have used the market’s recent strength to begin liquidating a significant amount of our holdings,” Mr Barakett wrote in a letter to investors on Tuesday. He added that investors would receive 95 per cent of their capital back by early October.
