Nations wasting cash on education boost, says OECD

Much of the global boom in spending on schools has been wasted by governments that have poured money into unreformed education systems, a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development warns today.

The US and Italy appear to be throwing away the largest amounts of money, with their young people scoring poorly in international tests in spite of enjoying someof the highest levels of school expenditure in the club of 30 industrialised countries.
