Asian and European leaders pledged to implement “firm, decisive and effective” measures to curtail the global financial crisis at the weekend although they did not agree on any specific measures for new regulation.

The leaders were attending the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (Asem) summit between Asia and Europe, which this year turned into an audition for the proposals from some European leaders for global financial reform.
