Deutsche kept Ackermann ‘to curb acrimony’

Josef Ackermann agreed to three more years as head of Deutsche Bank in part to avoid acrimony among potential successors while the financial crisis continued, the chief executive hinted on Tuesday while announcing a return to profit for the German bank.

The Swiss national, whose tenure at Germany’s largest bank will now extend until 2013, said Deutsche wanted “to put the emphasis on stability” by quashing speculation over his successor.
