Sabic to acquire GE unit for $11.6bn

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation is buying GE Plastics for about $11.6bn in what will be the biggest acquisition by an Arab company of a foreign rival, the companies confirmed on Monday.

Sabic, which is the largest public company in the Middle East, is paying cash for the GE unit, which had sales of $6.6bn last year.
