Employers urged to give staff time to sit as JPs

Employers will be encouraged to give staff more time off to serve as magistrates under plans to be published today.

Lord Falconer, the lord chancellor, aims to introduce clearer statutory provisions explaining when companies should allow "reasonable" time off for workers to sit as junior members of the judiciary.
