Lebedev seeks to forge new standard

Alexander Lebedev, the former KGB foreign intelligence agent, has always been a bit of a maverick.

Now, after building an airlines-to-banking-to-media empire in Russia, he is moving in on the British press, bidding for the London Evening Standard, in a move that would make him the first Russian oligarch to own a major British paper.
