Sarkozy and Obama to discuss Iran

Nicolas Sarkozy will warn Barack Obama on Saturday that tough new sanctions against Iran may be necessary this autumn after France’s latest attempt to open up a dialogue with Tehran backfired badly.

Iran’s nuclear programme will be at the top of the agenda of talks between the French and US presidents in Caen, Normandy, where the two leaders are also attending the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
