Merck agrees to settle pricing lawsuits

Merck, the US drugmaker, on Thursday agreed to pay $671m to settle government investigations over claims that it cheated federal healthcare plans in drug prices and improper marketing practices.

The settlement resolves civil investigations by federal prosecutors at the US Department of Justice and state attorneys-general into pricing and kickbacks.
