Lakshmi Mittal has resorted to ping-pong diplomacy in an effort to smooth a deal with Angang Steel, China's second-biggest steelmaker.

In talks with Zhang Xiaogang, Angang's chairman, the Indian steel magnate proposed sending two leading Indian women table tennis players to train with Angang's championship-winning female ping-pong team.
