This March, as the US housing slump continued to roll along, the British singer Sting paid $26.5m for a condominium overlooking Manhattan’s Central Park, in the city’s most expensive newly-constructed apartment building.
He was not the first big name to invest in 15 Central Park West, a 43-storey neo-classical building by architect Robert Stern. Other residents include Sandy Weill, the former chairman of Citigroup, and Lloyd Blankfein, chairman of Goldman Sachs.
