Airbus is hoping its exports will get a lift from Britain as the UK government weighs a plan to boost state-backed credit guarantees to the aerospace industry, echoing the €5bn ($6bn) initiative launched by France this year.

Lord Mandelson, Britain’s business secretary, who was in Paris last week to meet leading French industrialists, said such measures were under active consideration.
