Business concerned at Tory tax relief plans

Big companies are privately voicing their alarm over Conservative plans to curb tax relief for borrowing costs, a key selling point of the British tax system for international businesses.

George Osborne, shadow chancellor, has twice in recent speeches flagged the proposal to reduce the bias in the tax system towards debt, with a view to claiming a mandate for reform after the next election.
