US cuts business visa processing time

The US government has over the past year cut from 67 days to just 15 the average time for processing visa applications for foreign scientists, students and business travellers, the congressional Government Accountability Office reported on Friday.

While problems remain at individual consular offices in China and elsewhere, the GAO found that the number of travellers facing what had been months-long delays had “declined dramatically”.
