Doubts raised over second deal with TeliaSonera

Even as Alfa Group powers ahead with a deal to merge its Russian and Ukrainian telecoms assets with those of Telenor of Norway, a second proposed tie-up with TeliaSonera of Sweden appears to be running into problems.

The two companies plan to pool their telecoms assets in Megafon, Russia’s number three mobile operator, and Turkcell, the Turkish operator, to create another 50:50 joint venture that would be listed in New York.
