Companies have pared their investment plans back to cover only essential expenditure while reports of small-scale redundancies and plant closure became more widespread in October, according to the Bank of England’s Agents’ Survey published on Wednesday.
The survey, collected by the central bank’s agents around the country, seeks business trends that the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee incorporates into its consideration of economic conditions when it holds monthly meetings. The latest survey was conducted between late September and late October.
