Shoppers starting to change their tastes

It looks like agriculture from Alice in Wonderland. As fast as Britain exports poultry, lamb and beef, it is importing the same meat from farmers overseas.

In 2006 – the latest year for which detailed statistics are available – the UK exported £726m in dairy products, but imported £1.86bn. About 382,000 tonnes of poultry meat were imported, while 259,000 tonnes were exported.
