Shares in ReNeuron slide after FDA halt on trials

ReNeuron shares lost a fifth of their value on Tuesday after the US Food and Drug Administration placed the stem cell technology company’ application to conduct clinical trials of its stroke treatment on hold.

The group, which is seeking permission from the FDA to conduct trials of a treatment for stroke victims that uses stem cells derived from human foetal tissue, said a conference call to discuss the application with the agency has been scheduled for this week.
