London hangs on to lead in financial centres

London is still first among world financial centres but the fallout from the credit crunch has cut into its lead over rival cities, particularly in Asia and the Middle East, according to a survey due to be released today.

New York remained in -second place in the twice-yearly ranking, while Singapore climbed past Hong Kong into third place, followed by Zurich, Geneva and a resurgent Tokyo, which rose two places to seventh.
