Brazil’s corruption probe is reignited

When Celso Daniel, three times mayor of Santo André in greater São Paulo, was murdered, the shock waves reverberated across Brazil, where many had revered him as a beacon of probity in public life.

Four years on, conspiracy theories about his killing refuse to go away – threatening serious damage to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is up for re-election in October.
