Q: Before flying home from LA recently, I failed to surrender the green US departure record. After noticing it many weeks later, still stapled to my passport, I read it and noticed these words: “Retain this permit in your possession; you must surrender it when you leave the US. Failure to do so may delay your entry into the US in the future,” I thought nothing of it because I was under the impression it was up to the immigration officer to remove it.
