Asian stocks drop on recession fears

Shares across Asia fell on Monday amid lingering fears that more government measures would be required to help fend off a global recession and as the Group of Seven industrialised companies indicated it was concerned over the volatility of the Japanese yen.

Japanese shares fell to their lowest level in 26 years as investors shed financial stocks on concerns that banks would need to raise more capital and the persistently stronger yen prompted a further sell off of exporter stocks.
