Italy to call time on ‘creative finances'

Italy's centre-right government on Wednesday ruled out emergency cost-cutting measures to control its rising deficit but promised it would stop using “creative finances” to shore up its budgetary position.

“The times of creative finances are over,” Domenico Siniscalco, finance minister, told a parliamentary hearing.
