EU blamed for increasing red tape burden

European Union regulations accounted for most of the increase in the burden of red tape on business last year, according to research to be launched at the annual conference of the British Chambers of Commerce today.

The EU was responsible for a minority of new regulations by number but the majority - 86 per cent - by value, the study found.
