Zoellick criticises Chávez’s ‘problems’

Robert Zoellick, the former US trade chief who is expected to become the new World Bank president, has criticised the economic and political direction of Venezuela’s socialist government.

“It’s a country where economic problems are mounting and, as we’re seeing also on the political and press side, it’s not moving in a healthy direction,” said Mr Zoellick, a former US deputy secretary of state.
