Olympics coverage raises $1bn for NBC

NBC Universal has generated more than $1bn in revenues from the Olympics, the broadcaster said, dispelling concerns that a slowing advertising market might cut the returns on its investment in the Beijing Games.

The GE-controlled group’s decision to air a record 3,600 hours of coverage left it with an unprecedented amount of television airtime and online advertising inventory to sell.
