Most of the board at Aim-listed Freeplay Energy added shares this week under a rights issue. The company, which makes products that create energy from human and solar power, continues to make a loss, and in spite of a sevenfold jump in revenue this year, the shares have reached a 6p low. So the group is aiming to raise £1.5m for a restructuring with directors accounting for more than half of the investment.

Directors at some of the UK's largest property firms were again active buyers. John McNeil at Minerva timed his maiden trade, of £100,000, as the shares hit a four-year low. Other directors made more modest investments - chairman Geoffrey Whitehead doubled his stake to 80,000 shares.
